New Graduate Program

The Alfred Physiotherapy Department offers a two-year New Graduate Program for physiotherapists.

The program is specifically designed to allow new graduates to develop acute physiotherapy experience and clinical skills in a wide range of areas.

Throughout the program, new graduates have the opportunity to work closely with expert senior clinicians, to allow for ongoing learning and development in a supportive and friendly environment.

We normally advertise for these New Graduate positions in The Age and on Seek (www.seek.com.au) in October.  Interviews occur in late October early November, for a commencement date normally in the third week of January.

There are thirteen Grade 1 physiotherapy positions at The Alfred. All Grade 1 staff rotate every four months, across the various units of The Alfred.

As a new graduate you can expect to undertake rotations in:

  • Respiratory / Cystic Fibrosis,
  • ICU,
  • Cardiothoracics, and
  • Infectious Disease.

The other Grade 1 rotations include:

  • Burns and Plastics,
