The Volunteer Program at The Alfred recruits and trains volunteers to provide many extra services that supplement the care and treatment of the professional staff at The Alfred. Volunteers do not supplant paid staff but rather complement or extend the service of the hospital.
Volunteers add to the quality of health care by helping patients, their families, the staff, visitors and the community by visiting patients in the wards, performing concierge/guide duties, emergency department duties and other unit and department duties.
Every volunteer selected undertakes a Volunteer Training Program and regularly attends training updates and meetings.
If you would like to become an Alfred Volunteer, please contact Gillian Wilson, Volunteer Coordinator on 9076 2970.
TopWould you like to become a VIP Volunteer?
There are exciting opportunities for those wishing to become involved in volunteering with Caulfield Hospital and Caulfield Community Health Service.
The VIP Program: Volunteers In Partnership recognises our volunteers as partners with the organisation who assist paid staff to provide quality of care for our clients, whether patients, residents or other associated members of the community.
VIP Volunteers provide a complementary service to that provided by paid staff. Volunteer roles are both on site and community based. Some of the openings include friendly visiting in the nursing homes or wards, group activities, hydrotherapy assistance, involvement in community activities and a range of other roles devised to help improve quality of life for our clients.
Our volunteers are valued as very important people indeed, and we welcome any enquiries from people wishing to find out more about this program. On-going support and training is provided for successful applicants.
Please contact the Manager of Volunteers on 9076 6025 or e-mail J.Olszanski@cgmc.org.au.
TopVolunteering your time to help others can be a rewarding experience. You meet new people, learn new skills and give back to the local community at the same time.
We are fortunate at Sandringham Hospital to have the help of volunteers who regularly give their time to support our busy staff and enrich patients' experience in the hospital.
Our volunteers are from all areas of the local community and although they do not replace paid staff, their support is invaluable to our service.
Key volunteer groups are the Pink Ladies, who are responsible for patient floral arrangements in the wards, the Courier Service who distribute items across the hospital and assist patients in finding their way around and the Black Rock Ladies Auxiliary who run regular raffles and fundraising initiatives.
The Kiosk at the hospital is also run by a group of volunteers who provide a valuable service to patients, visitors and staff.
The Black Rock Sports Auxiliary is also a vital volunteer group, raising funds for the hospital since 1950 through an Annual Charity Golf Day at the Royal Melbourne Golf Club.
They welcome volunteers from the community and also bookings for attendance at the event.
There are also opportunities to assist in general administration work and patient visiting.
If you have a skill such as massage or painting, you may want to come and share it with our patients.
The Hospital Executive Director also chairs a "Consumer and Community Reference Group", a group of people from the community who provide information and feedback on hospital services and often participate in focus groups for planning purposes.
We always welcome new volunteers. If you would like more information on volunteering, contact the hospital on 9076 1000.
